About Me

Hi! I'm Jess, the creator of AK Mountaintop Mermaid. 

I've been tinkering in jewelry making since my teenage years, but the past few years have motivated me to immerse myself more profoundly in mediums that truly resonate with my soul.

While my primary passion lies in crafting jewelry, I occasionally explore other artistic avenues like painting on canvas, working with resin, and woodworking. My inspiration often comes from the treasures I discover while beach-combing along the beautiful shores near my home in Juneau, AK. I love working with gemstones in their natural, raw form as well as working with wire, but my main love is copper electroforming and silversmithing. Each piece I create is a reflection of my adventures, spanning from the sea to the mountain peaks and everything in between. I respectfully forage and collect materials from nature as often as possible to craft unique, one-of-a-kind wearable art.

I've lived in Juneau, AK since 2012 and I'm here for life - Alaska stole my heart! I've been a boat captain since 2016 and a lover of all things snow related.

I came up with the name AK Mountaintop Mermaid because it describes me perfectly. My heart belongs to the mountains and my soul belongs to the sea.
